their fiery-playful games,
their sudden upward glances
slowly looking all around
like lightning-flames.

There's a more potent spell:
eyes lower.
A mouth hungers.
Lids almost close.
Sullen arousal glows.
What's that big blob of grey and blue you ask? That was yesterday's giant rain cloud which was about as large as the Netherlands. Sun is out today, thank goodness.
It is Dierendag here in Holland today. To celebrate, my boys were given all kinds of treats - a new cat flap, special snacks and their favourite - smoked chicken.
I suppose it is on this one day we're meant to appreciate animals and to pamper our pets. What can I say? I think in this household everyday is Happy Animal Day.
